Dr Bishnu Dev Pant Executive Director Dr Pant has a PhD in Applied Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute. He started his professional career as a Lecturer of Statistics at Min Bhawan Campus of the Tribhuwan University in 1976. He then joined the Agricultural Projects Services Centre in 1977, and worked there until 1984 as an Agricultural Statistician. He also served in the National Planning Commission of the Government of Nepal as Statistics Advisor for a period of about 18 months beginning mid 1984 until the end of 2005. In early 1986, Dr Pant joined the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok as the Chief of the Statistical Information Services Section, where he worked for ten years. In early 1996, Dr Pant moved to the Asian Development Bank, Manila and worked in various positions at the Economics and Research Department. In March 2006, he was appointed as the Director of the Development Indicators Policy Research Division of the Asian Development Bank, Manila. He retired from the ADB in July 2008. After returning to Nepal, he was offered Professorship and Directorship of the Centre for Economics and Applied Statistics at the South Asian Institute of Management, where he worked until recently. Professionally trained Applied Statistician, with over 30 years of experience at both national and international levels, Dr Pant has an extensive management and leadership experience. He has managed statistical offices of international agencies, strategizing programs for statistically less advanced countries, undertaking evidence-based policy research, data analysis and data services. He has a number of research papers and publications to his credit covering a wide range of area in Economics and Applied Statistics.
Mr Shankar Aryal Research Fellow An MA in Political Science from Tribhuvan University, Mr Aryal started his career as District Census Officer at the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Specializing in time-series data management, he has worked in more than 60 socio-economic research works. In addition to a number of trainings, he has participated in several national, regional and international workshops and seminars.
Mr Ashwasthama Pokhrel Senior System Analyst Mr Pokhrel has a Bachelor’s in Law from Tribhuvan University. He started his career as Field Enumerator at Land Resource Mapping Project (LRMP) in 1980. He joined IDS in 1984 as Data Processor. Specializing in field management and data management, he has taken part in more than 50 socio-economic research works. He has travelled as a field surveyor in 72 out of a total of districts of the country.
Mr Madhu Ram Maharjan Program Officer Mr Maharjan has a BSc in Agriculture from the Institute of Agriculture & Animal Sciences, Rampur, Chitwan. He has been involved in several policy and action research programs aimed at poverty alleviation through self-help group endeavor, securing livelihoods and equity consideration. He has supervised field-based action research, provided trainings to field-level operations and staff, and carried out process documentation of a number of action research programs.
Mr Nanda Kaji Budhathoki Economist Mr Budhathoki completed his MA in development and resources economics from the Norwegian university of life science, Norway. He also took major courses in health economics and policy analysis from the University of Oslo. Currently, he is an economist in IIDS. His area of interest includes health economics, environmental economics, micro credit etc.
Mr Manbar Singh Khadka Economist Mr. Khadka received an M.S. in Agricultural & Resource Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, USA and Bachelors in Economics from Wabash College in Indiana, USA. His areas of interest lie in development economics and environmental economics. As a graduate student, he wrote his Masters thesis on The Relationship between Child Labor and Microfinance: Evidence from Rural Bangladesh.
Ms Priyanka Malla Economist Ms. Malla received master degree in financial economics from State University of New York, Buffalo. Her areas of interest lie in financial economics and environmental economics.Before joining IIDS, she worked as a Statistical Analyst at Envirosell, New York.
Dr Aruna Palikhe Senior Economist
Dr. Palikhe holds an MA and PhD in Agriculture Economics from Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan. She also has an MA in Population Studies from Tribhuwan University, Nepal. Her areas of interest include Agricultural Economics, rural development and data analysis.
Mr Devendra Shrestha Administrative & Finance Officer Mr Shrestha has a BCom from Tribhuvan University. He has worked as an accountant in several organizations since 1990. He joined IIDS in 1999 as an Accounts Officer. He holds an auditors license from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal.
Ms Silam Ranjit Documentation Officer Ms Ranjit has a BCom from Tribhuvan University. She started her career as a receptionist at IIDS in 1990. She has a librarian training from the National Library Association of Nepal. She has a Post-graduate Diploma in Womens Studies from Tribhuvan University.
