New Project A new project titled Program to Promote Accountability in Nepal (PRAN) has been started in July in joint-collaboration with Total Management Services (TMS) for the World Bank.
Field Survey IIDS with joint collaboration with CNI (Confederation of Nepalese Industries) have recently carried out a field study of Business Expectation Survey (BES) for the first time in the country. BES is expected to measure and forecast the expectations of the business community persons in Nepal by providing qualitative data in both the short and medium terms. The study team, here at IIDS, thoroughly enjoyed carrying out the survey and interacting with a total of 185 interviews with business persons in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Bhairawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi and Pokhara. The team is working on writing the report, and is expected to release it very soon.
Workshop Participation Dr Aruna Palikhe and Dr Dwarika Nath Dhungel participated in The Workshop on Democratic Local Governance in Asia: Reforms and Innovations for Local Democracy held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from May 13 and 14.
Refresher Course ParticipationDr Aruna Palikhe and Mr Mukesh Khanal participated in the Refresher Course in Public Economics for the South Asian Region from May 23 to June 17 in Delhi, India.
Economist Mr Nanda Kaji Budhathoki and Mr Manbar Singh Khadka have been appointed as Economist.
